Your Window to the Starry Sky

Discover the wonders of the universe right from your device! With Astrolapp, you can hold your phone up to the sky to observe and identify planets, stars, and constellations. Enjoy the app's highly sensitive and accurate Live Mode, complemented by a visually appealing and intuitive interface. Note: Live Mode is available only on devices equipped with a built-in compass.

Explore the Night Sky

Stars are depicted in their true colors and are labeled according to the International Astronomical Union. You can optionally view the 88 official constellations with or without name labels. Use the powerful search function to find any celestial body above you, guided by an arrow!

Interactive Features

By tapping on any star or planet, Astrolapp highlights the celestial body's path across the sky throughout the night (or day). Additionally, it calculates rise and set times for any celestial object down to the minute, displaying the current position data in a convenient tabular format on a separate pull-out display.

Location-Based Astronomy

Astrolapp automatically detects your current location to provide an accurate view of the starry sky. If you're curious about how the sky looks from different locations around the globe, simply use the built-in map to select any destination.

Time Travel Through the Stars

While Astrolapp shows you the current sky by default, you can easily explore how the sky will appear next month or even plot planetary constellations from historical events decades or centuries ago. Experience the sky changing in fast motion!

Star-Map Mode

For devices without a built-in compass or as an alternative to Live Mode, Astrolapp offers a Star-Map Mode. Switch between the two displays by tapping the 3D button. Both modes provide similar information and functionality.

Visualizing the Solar System

Star-Map Mode features an interactive star map styled like an astronomical clock, visualizing the mechanics of the Solar System and the movements of stars and constellations throughout the day and year. This is achieved through a planar projection of the celestial sphere, reminiscent of medieval astrolabes and astronomical clocks.
