Introduction to CF.lumen

CF.lumen adapts the colors on your Android device based on the position of the sun or your custom settings, enhancing your viewing experience.

Requirements

Note: Android 5.0 is now required. Versions up to v3.16 that support 4.4 KitKat are still available from the XDA thread. If you notice a performance drop since v3.60, consider turning on performance mode.

Color Temperature Adjustment

When using the default settings, your display will receive a warmer tint (lower color temperature) at night, significantly reducing eye strain. Blue light can keep your brain alert, and by lowering the color temperature in the evening, you can help your brain prepare for sleep.

During sleeping hours, a red filter is applied by default. Red light is the least straining on your eyes and helps maintain night vision.

Light Sensor Functionality

The light sensor can automatically adjust the color settings: switching to the sleep filter in complete darkness or to the day filter under bright lights. As light sensor quality varies significantly across devices, a calibration option is available for experimentation.

CF.lumen offers several filters:

Colorblindness Enhancement

The master color filter setting includes options for colorblindness enhancement, with settings for:

While these filters may enhance clarity and color detail, no claims are made regarding their effectiveness. These features were developed by Google engineers and are included in CF.lumen.

Pro Version Features

Upgrading to CF.lumen Pro supports ongoing developments and unlocks additional features:

• Removal of all nag screens.


• Option to start at device boot (ensure to test your configuration first).


• Notification options for convenient access.


• Tasker integration for advanced automation.

In Pro mode, the notification features buttons to quickly disable the current filter or switch to sleep mode. You can also configure notifications to show only when a color filter is active.

In non-Pro mode, the notification prompts an upgrade to Pro. While it may seem annoying, it prevents Android from randomly killing the background service that manages your settings. To disable it without stopping the service, go to Settings -> Apps -> CF.lumen and uncheck Show notifications.

Performance Insights

When no color filter is active, there should be no noticeable performance impact. However, when a filter is active, the impact may vary by device and usage. Some devices show no performance impact, while others might experience slight delays, depending on the driver in use.

Future Considerations

Be aware that Android's rendering system evolves over time. This app may cease to function on future Android versions without the possibility of a fix.
