Introducing Commands & Colors: The Great War


HexWar Games has partnered with Plastic Soldier Company to deliver an exciting digital adaptation of the renowned board game Commands & Colors: The Great War. This immersive game allows players to reenact significant engagements throughout the history of World War I. Each battle emphasizes the historical deployment of forces and the crucial terrain features characteristic of trench warfare.

Flexible Game Scale


The scale of the game is adaptable, varying from one battle to another. In certain scenarios, a few infantry units may symbolize an entire wing of a larger battle, while in others, a single unit may represent a handful of courageous soldiers making a charge.

Dynamic Gameplay Mechanics


The Command card system enhances movement, introduces a “fog of war,” and presents players with numerous intriguing opportunities. Combat is resolved swiftly and efficiently using the battle dice, ensuring a smooth gameplay experience.



Additionally, the Combat cards introduce an element of suspense, challenging players to coordinate their use strategically and timely. The battlefield tactics necessary for victory align remarkably well with the strengths and limitations of various WWI units, their weapons, battlefield terrain, and historical context.
