Artistic Statement


unWorded is born from a profound love for typography. Letters not only convey meaning but can also evoke a strong sense of space. We pondered whether we could construct an entire world from simple letters. What would it look like? What feelings would we experience if we immersed ourselves in such a universe?



This led us to the desire to delve into a writer's mind and thoughts, exploring how memories bubble up to the conscious mind. We ultimately chose a simple yet engaging gameplay experience, assembling letters to create objects, each triggering an important memory of the author. A key aspect for us was the intimacy the player would experience with the writer, actively participating in his introspection.

We aimed to tell a story about feelings and thoughts through unWorded. The game addresses the subject of grief, a universal experience that is often difficult to discuss. Players will navigate each phase of grief alongside the author: shock and denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The narrative revolves around a children's book writer who has just been hospitalized after a serious accident. As his wife reads fairy tales of his own creations at his bedside, you dive into his mind, sharing his last thoughts as he reminisces about his life and past works, standing with him at death's door!

The unWorded Team


Bento has been crafting mobile games since 2010. Based in Lyon, the team consists of two passionate individuals united by a common goal: to create original and creative games. Benoit breathes life into the games through art, sound, and music, while Séverin powers the engine with his programming expertise. With unWorded, the Bento team fulfills their long-awaited dream of producing a narrative game that conveys a truly meaningful story!
