Key Features of VAG DPF App
The VAG DPF app provides crucial information regarding the DPF particulate filter and its regeneration phases using an ELM327 Bluetooth/WIFI adapter. With this app, you can:
- Check if the regeneration process is currently running.
- See if a regeneration is pending completion.
- Track the distance traveled since the last regeneration.
Unlike most other apps that utilize standard OBD2 commands, this app employs CANBUS commands. Therefore, a reliable ELM327 adapter is necessary for optimal performance (see the note below).

About ELM327 Adapters
Here are some recommended ELM327 adapters:
- OBDLink LX: Recommended, expensive but fast and reliable (used for app development).
- Carista: Recommended, affordable and very reliable (used for debugging and daily scans).
- Vgate iCar 2 Bluetooth: Recommended, similar to Carista.
- Konnwei KW 903: Recommended, same as Carista.
- China cloned adapter: Not recommended, unreliable with unpredictable results.
29-bit Init Protocol
Currently, the app does not support 29-bit protocol engines. However, a BETA engine group 97 is available for testing. For more details, visit here.
